Men and masculine identified support hours
An exciting update on the services that AVP offers:
Beginning November 9 we will be offering drop-in support hours specifically for men and masculine identified folks who have experienced gender based violence, know someone who has experienced gender based violence, or have caused harm themselves. This will be a confidential, shame-free space to centre these conversations, and to provide opportunities for support and unlearning.
We are all capable of causing harm, and an important aspect of the movement to shift our cultures to ones of respect and care is unlearning the harmful ways we can inhabit and understand the world.
The drop-in sessions will be held every Monday (starting Nov 9) from 5-7 pm in B027, with two trained volunteers (who are men/masculine identified). This is a time of day when the basement of the SUB is less busy, and we can also shut the AVP door during sessions for confidentiality. Please email us at if you have any questions, or accessibility needs. Pls note these hours may change for the Jan-April semester and can be confirmed by checking our Support Page.
Another rad resource for men and masculine identified folks is the Men’s Circle, which meets every other Wednesday to talk about topics such as patriarchy, masculinity, violence, violence, and accountability. More information on their Facebook page.
