Are you interested in volunteering with AVP? Here is your chance! We’ve been hard at work planning an exciting volunteer training program for 2018. This year, the training will cover topics such as consent, care, colonization, heteropatriarchy, white supremacy and so much more (no worries if you aren’t familiar with these terms, it’s all covered in the training!). As volunteers, you will bust myths about sexual assault and imagine creative ways to disrupt systems of violence. We’ll give you the information and skills needed to support survivors, facilitate workshops, and engage folks in conversations about rape culture and how we can create a culture of care and consent!

The first part of the 2018 volunteer training begins May 1st and runs Tuesday and Thursday evenings for four weeks. Volunteers will also be required to attend the second part of training held one evening biweekly from September to November 2018. Why a May start? Find out more information here.

Our training sessions will be held on the University of Victoria campus. We have bus tickets and can provide childcare if needed. The deadline to apply is Tuesday April 17th and applications can be submitted online or in person at our office, room B027 in the basement of the Student Union Building. Our training is open to faculty, students, staff and community members of all genders and abilities.
