*Closed* We’re looking to hire a UVic student!

Happy New Year! We know the past year has been weird, intense, and sometimes scary for our communities, but the Anti-Violence Project is still open and available for support, workshops, and we encourage you to reach out with your questions.

To kick start our year, we’re looking to hire a new Volunteer and Outreach Officer! If you are passionate about ending sexualized and gender-based violence and have experience supervising and training volunteers, you’re just what we are looking for!

This position is open to UVic undergraduate students and we’re really flexible about work hours so you can fit this job into your busy school schedule. This is a part-time position of 10 hours per week, with the potential to take on more hours during our peak times. We are a unionized work environment, and offer $15.95 per hour (plus vacation pay), as well as a pay increase every year. Our team is currently working remotely from home, but if working from home presents a barrier for you, please get in touch–we want to be able to support whoever gets this position in whatever way they need.

Working with the Anti-Violence Project means being part of a diverse, collaborative and supportive work environment. Check out our team’s bios to get a sense of who we are or our About page to find out what kind of work we do.

There’s lots of space in this position to bring your talents and passions to the table! Primarily you would be responsible for communicating and organizing AVP’s volunteers, this includes sending out emails every week to let volunteers know what roles need to be filled and keeping volunteers engaged with the work we do. In addition, you’d be taking part in volunteer recruitment and helping to organize the AVP volunteer training program that we run once a year!

This position is restricted to self-identified women, gender non-conforming and non-binary applicants only. In support of employment equity and in order to increase our relevancy and diversity of skills, knowledge and experience, AVP strongly encourages self-identified people of colour, people with disabilities, Indigenous, queer and transgender people to apply.

If this sounds like a good fit for you, please send in your cover letter and resume. Applications MUST be emailed to or dropped off at the UVSS General Office in the Student Union Building before 10:00 a.m. on January 27, 2021.
